Dola Mitai Recipe


  • 11/2 Cup Unga wa Dola All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Yeast
  • 1/4 Tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 Cup Coconut Milk

For Sugar Syrup

  • 3 Cardamom Pods
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water


  • Mix all the dry ingredients then add in the egg and the coconut milk in bits to make a dough. Knead this for 10-15Mins.
  • Cover and place the dough in a warm area to proof for 30Mins. Cut into diamond shapes and fry till golden brown.
  • For the syrup, mix water, sugar, vanilla and cardamom pods allow to boil till sticky. Reduce flame to low then add in your fried Mitai and stir continuously. After a while, the sugar will crystallize. Get it off the flame and allow to cool.
  • Pairs well with black sugarless coffee ☕️ Enjoy!
